Install Oracle Database 11g R2 on Linux RHEL/CentOS 6.5 – Section 5 (Single Instance)

Prepare the Oracle Database software for Installation

Login to the Oracle Database Server as user root

Using any FTP or winscp to transfer the Oracle Database Software package to the Oracle Database Server

Unzip the Oracle Database Software

[root@newzonetechdb02]# unzip p13390677_112040_Linux-x86-64_1of7.zip
[root@newzonetechdb02]# unzip p13390677_112040_Linux-x86-64_2of7.zip

Once the unzip complete, Grant the correct permission for grid folder

[root@newzonetechdb02]# chown -R oracle:oinstall database
[root@newzonetechdb02]# chmod -R 777 database

Start install the Oracle Database software

Login as user grid

[oracle@newzonetechdb02]$ cd /home/oracle/database
[oracle@newzonetechdb02]$ ./runInstaller

Unselect the ‘I wish to receive security updates via my oracle support‘, click ‘yes‘ to continue

Select ‘Skip Software Updates

Select the ‘Install database software only

Select the ‘Single instance database installation

Select ‘English‘ for the language

Select the ‘Enterprise Edition

The Oracle Base: /ora01/app/oracle

The Oracle Home: /ora01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.4/dbhome_1

Database Administrator (OSDBA) Group: dba

Database Operator (OSOPER) Group: oper

Select ‘ignore all

Click ‘Next‘ to continue the installation. At the end of the installation, run ‘root.sh‘ script.

Until now, I had installed the Oracle Database Software.
